Some are coming on Wednesday. Hotel providing same low rate for 2 days before and after the reunion.
Thu. Sep. 13 REGISTRATION in Hospitality Room.
1000 to 1730 hours (10 am to 5:30 pm). Memorabilia will be on display. Bring your pictures, memories, souvenirs, and share them and your stories with others as they arrive. There will be a secure room for storage when we are not present. Wear your hats, shirts or other paraphernalia to show off.
Dinner this night is Dutch treat wherever you want to go. We will help you with reservations and transportation.
Fri. Sep. 14 UP EARLY! OUR BIG DAY!
0800 Departure for UConn campus. Arrive approx 0900 at the Bradford House the "Mansion" at the old "CG Training Center". You remember old "Rotten Groton by the Sea" home to many of us that attended one of the "A" schools. We can tour the grounds i.e. Avery Point Light Now restored) and the old Coast Guard R & D Center on the campus.
1100 The USS Nautilus Submarine and Museum. Explore the Sub, visit the shops and gift store.
1300 Its lunch time (no host) at Mr. G'S. This restaurant has been there since 1966 and I am told serves the best "Grinders" on the East Coast.
1430 Its off to the Coast Guard Academy to visit the CG Museum. The Museum will be reopening this spring after being closed many months for Asbestos Abatement.
1600-1700 Visit CG Station New London. An Active Duty Station.
1700 Its back to the motel.
Sat. Sep. 15 SLEEP LATE!
1000 Business Meeting! All hands on deck for the only real business of the reunion. We will take a look at where we stand and where we go from here. Other business as needed.
1200 to 1800 Your time. Shopping, other site seeing – Providence is only 6 miles away. Many other sites in the area. Have fun and enjoy your time here and together.
1800 Picture taking! Bring your camera for the traditional taking of pictures. Hopefully some good ones will be taken and we can get them on the web site for all to see and remember. Spouses expected!
1830 BANQUET! This will be our traditional reunion feast with all the trimmings (cocktails on you). You might even hear some interesting comments from your shipmates during the dinner. In the past they have proved interesting and entertaining.
Sun. Sep. 16 Official End and departure date.
Always hard to leave. The hotel is honoring their low rate for a couple more days if any wish to stay and do more sightseeing.
